Kua Bay - Composed by Joe Chee Jr.

I wrote this song almost 30 years ago.  Kua Bay was one of my favorite beaches that my friends and I would go to back when I was in high school.   This was when it was very remote and only accessible by 4-wheel drive, so hardly anyone would be there.   Sometimes we were the only ones on the beach.   Today, there is a paved road, parking lot, and bathroom facilities.

Ku'ulei - Composed by Kevin Haleamau

I wrote back in the early 90s when I met my wife, I wanted to write a song for her. As I was writing I happen to be at the beach and saw a sailboat sail In the Kona winds and How it looks so peaceful and beautiful heading in the sunset, so I said someday I’ll have a boat I will name it Ku'ulei after my wife. I remember I needed help on some wording and I asked Joe Chee Jr. to help me with and he gave me some ideas and I was able to finish Ku'ulei. If you listen to the words of the song it talks about the Sailboat Ku'ulei sailing and how peaceful and beautiful she is, my wife Star Stacey Ku'ulei Stephens Haleamau.

Paniolo Nights - Composed by Teri'i Holzgrove

I wrote this song shortly after committing and starting our new Album project back in March 2019. The song I wrote in honor of our good friend and business partner Kawika Reynolds who was a repeat guest of the iconic Kona Village. We met him back in the later '90s when myself and Kevin Halemau started performing at Kona Village while creating unforgettable fun times and memories during a weekly event called “Paniolo Nights”, hence the title of the song. Kawika was known as the Mayor of Kona Village, and us Paniolo myself and Kevin Halemau coined the phrase “Stay On The Path”

Verse 1

I'm heading down the trail to a place called Kona Village

Looking for three cowboys singing in the night

I hear they're fine, fine, fine, sing singing cowboy songs though the night

When I get to that pasture, I'm going to have me a good time

Verse 2

We call cowboys Paniolo or Hawaiian cowboy

Cause they know how how to rope and ride

I hear they're the best in the world, cowboy champions of the earth

Like Ikua Purdy, roping champion of Cheyenne

Verse 3

Welcome to our Hoedown or Paniolo party, Aloha Kawika Reynolds our mayor of Kona Village

He likes to have a good time, hanging with friends through the night

When people leave for their Hale, Paniolo say "stay on the path"

Bridge 1:

You got to stay on the path, you gotta know where you're going, otherwise, you might take a spill

Paniolo Nights!

Yodel:

Paniolo x3 ooh hoo

Play Music - Composed by Joe Chee Jr.

This was the most recent song I’ve written.   This song was inspired by the recent reunion of the original Pa’ani Pila. We played at a baby luau in Kohala last year (2019). When I got back to Maui, as I was driving home from the airport, I was thinking about that gig and how much fun it was.   I also thought about a photo that I took at that gig of the back of Kevin’s shirt that had our Pa’ani Pila logo with “Play Music” in it.   With that image of “Play Music” in my mind and the feelings of joy from the gig, by the time I got home, I had the melody and about 80% of the song written. My favorite line in the song is, “We sing and play our hearts for you, to make you smile, it’s what we do!”

Ukulele Magic - Composed by Kevin Haleamau

This song I also wrote back in the late 90s and it Is a very short song but it tells the story of how I grew up and learned how to play music and share it with family in very little words. It also shows the love I have for ukuleles and the passion I have for learning and sharing my ukulele magic, thanks to my Dad who always was by my side and encouraging me to keep it up and learn.

1st Verse :

I remember the days of young, growing up with the
songs I love
I can hear my daddy say, the musicʼs in your heart.

Chorus

Playing my ukulele ( ooh ooh ooh)
and singing Hawaiian songs ( aah aah aah)
Jammin all night long yeah (repeat: all night long)
my ukulele magic

sitting with my family
singing laughing all night long
that's the way I learned to share, my ukulele magic

Chorus

Universal Harmony - Composed by Joe Chee Jr.

I also wrote this song almost 30 years ago in the early ‘90s, around the time of the L.A. riots. This was the Rodney King and “Can’t we all just get along?” era in our country. The song is probably more applicable today than it was back then.

Verse 1
I'd like to share something with you now
Something to fill your heart and mind
'cause we are living in the same world
But there's something we've got to, we've got to find
Got to find some.....

Chorus

Universal harmony
(Got to make some) Universal peace
(We got to show some) Universal love and care
And make this world a better place for you and me

Verse 2
There's too much fightin' goin' on
Happening right in our backyards
Don't these people know that the world is one big island
And if we all can come together, it won't be so hard to find some.....

Chorus

Bridge

How I wish there were an island
Where people live their lives as one
Where there’s no prejudice or hatred
And all our children playing under the sun

 (Chorus - fade out)
